Brookhaven's Original Settlement

The Three Village area, which includes the hamlets of Setauket, East Setauket and Stony Brook, and the villages of Old Field and Poquott,
has more than 100 pre-Revolutionary War homes. There are many other styles here including Greek revival, Queen Anne, Victorian and modern. The Three Village area also contains many attractive village centers, village greens, parks, streams, ponds, bays, wetlands and walking trails for you to explore.

My photographs and local history articles explore these areas where native Americans first settled more than 8,000 years ago, where Revolutionary War battles took place, where a Revolutionary war spy ring operated, and where wooden ships were built that traveled all over the world during the 19th century. In these pages you will be introduced to the educational and discovery programs that are designed for anyone who is interested in exploring this beautiful area and learning about its history. All of my photographs of this beautiful area of Long Island are available. All profits from the sale of photographs benefit the Three Village Historical Society and the Frank Melville Memorial Foundation.
